Current Open Position:

Viking Utility Inc. is currently looking to fill a position for Mechanic. This position will be responsible for servicing our fleet which includes gas and diesel vehicles and equipment; hydraulic work and light fabrication may be required.

This role is a Full-Time position with a start time of 6:30am from Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI): troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Performs DOT compliance inspections.
  • Minor fabrication, modification, and installation of special equipment
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Inspects the quality of outside supplier repairs and/or rebuilds. 
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Able to work overtime when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and required.

Qualifications

Competencies and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Must be able to speak, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Time management skills.
  • Automotive computer literacy.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting information.
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Relevant trade school or able to demonstrate on-the-job experience.
  • At least two (2) years of related mechanics experience.
  • Pre-employment criminal background and drug screen required.
