Overview

Danella, a national utility contractor, is seeking experienced Fiber Splicers, compensation is based on experience.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

Ability to prep including mid-sheath/ring cut, tray and splice various fiber types and counts including loose tube, ribbon, plenum cables etc. Individual will also work with various brands and types of fiber enclosures new and existing. All work completed to be to company and customer specifications.

Ability to access new and existing fiber optic splice enclosures and splice the necessary fibers in an Aerial or Underground Environment utilizing bucket trucks and ladders as needed.

Ability to test new fiber, troubleshoot and repair problems with existing fiber utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier and OLTS Test sets

Must be able to work safely in existing splice enclosures containing working fibers

 

Job Description:

Responsible for performing on-site installations of fiber optic systems at customer’s work site and in the field. Working with customers, management, and employees to assure a quality installation. Must be able to adjust schedule on short notice and/or any shift. Has a wide variety of skill sets and must have the ability to work alone effectively and efficiently. Must be keenly aware of job hours and costs associated with a project. Displays strong troubleshooting skills in all areas of fiber optics.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently test and trouble shoot fiber and give analysis of the results.
  • Provide technical Fiber splicing to customer specifications on both active and dark fiber.
  • Employee must be proficient in the use of all test and splicing equipment and must know how to use a computer and all software used by the company concerning the completion of fiber optic projects.

Working Conditions:

Work schedule can vary from day work to night work or day and night work in the same week.

Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

 

Qualifications

3+ years of Experience operating and using fiber optic splice and test equipment. Please do not apply without the requisite experience.

Technical Skills:

Ability to read splicing matrix and design drawings as well as create splicing as-builts.

Ability to utilize MS Office to document and retrieve splice information.

Ability to operate an aerial lift (bucket truck)

General Skills:

Highly organized and detail oriented

Ability to independently detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate in a fiber system.

Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to comprehend, process and apply both verbal and written skills appropriate to the job.
